Who are we?

Kia ora,

I’m Cohen (the Kiwi) Stephens, born and raised in New Zealand and my bird shaped friend is Kleo the Kereru. We’ve been a team since January 2022 when I adopted Kleo from Wellington Zoo, after a visit to feed the Giraffes.

During 2021 I had been working in a number of theatre and event companies in Wellington, NZ; I loved the work but was finding myself tired and a little bit lost. With the encouragement and support of some friends and family I made the decision to pack up my life and take off for adventures unknown.

I’ll cover more of the how and why in some stories here on the site but suffice to say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Kleo joined me in the final weeks of my time in New Zealand when I was thinking about how I would stay connected to home and share the journey. I found Kleo and decided she would be the face of this journey and show off (almost) all our adventures.

Now having done the first 9 months, we paused in Australia to make plans, make money, and make new stories.
