Kleo the Kererū and the Palace Cat

The Story

Welcome to the second story in our series. As an aside we’re thrilled that we made the next step and started bringing the next story to our readers and listeners.

If it’s still 2025 (and probably 2026) you won’t see many options below to find the story. When we started working on our first book Kleo the Kererū meets Cohen the Kiwi we quickly had a bunch of ideas for stories to go forward with. This one being one of the first. But we still hadn’t published the first so we didn’t really do much more than scribble some ideas down.
As the project moved further along and Kleo meets Cohen was printed we began to look ahead. This story was drafted, edited, ancd refined. We started talking with our artist, thinking about design. But realised that like the first book it was going to take time.

Technically we had time, the project could take as long as we wanted, and there was a lot of work to do with growing the first book and our audience. It soon became apparent though that many people were keen for the next stories, and Cohen was realising that he wanted to write the stories but felt lost without a way to share them. Thats where the Audiobooks came in.

Kleo meets Cohen was turned into an audio book in May 2025, and after a lot of work and learning we brought Kleo and the Palace Cat to the airwaves. We’ve now comitted to a pretty lofty goal; 5 Audiobooks by the end of the year (including the first 2). To us that looks like one each month from September. So keep an eye on The Library as we add more titles that for now you can listen to and hopefully soon enough you can read.

Cool. So what’s this one about?
Kleo the Kererū and the Palace Cat is a bit more dramatic than our first. During our time in Istanbul we visited Dolmabahçe Palace. It was a pretty incredible place even after visiting some of the other grand buildings of Istanbul. This is the setting for our story.

After exploring the interiors of the Palace, Kleo and Cohen find themselves in the gardens and come across the palace aviary. Kleo is a bit confused by the concept but goes around meeting the birds.
But all is not calm, from the shadows creeps a little black cat with its eyes set on an exciting prize. What follows is a dramatic chase through the palace. How will Kleo get herself to safety? What will they do about the cat?

Like all our stories we’re bringing magic to our real life adventures. Was Kleo chased by a cat? Thankfully not. However, while taking some photos at the aviary we did have a curious feline checking Kleo out. You can take a look in the photos below.
