Kererū Adventure Club
Congratulations on adopting one of Kleo’s bright feathered family. You’re bound to get up to some great adventures.
We thought it would be great to share some ideas with you to help you and your new friend get started.
But Kleo’s family turned up at such short notice we haven’t had a chance to get all the ideas down. So be sure to check back in soon.
Kleo wants us to start a newsletter too, so we can keep in touch and give even more ideas. If you’d like to join head to the bottom of the page and fill out the form.
Your new Kererū
About the Majestic Kererū
The majestic Kererū or the New Zealand Wood Pigeon or more scientifically Hemiphaga novaeseelandiae. (We haven’t worked out how to say that yet either)
You’ll recognise the Kererū for its bright Green wings and can often hear the distinctive swoop of thier wings as they go flying through the forests.
Kererū are great birds that can help the forest grow. They like to eat a lot of fruit especially some of the big ones and often eat the seeds too. Then they fly off on adventure and before you know it they poop out the seeds.
Adventures
Off on Adventures
So, you and you’re newest Kererū friend have teamed up and now you’re looking for adventures?
We’ll there’s a lot of great options out there.
- Head out to a park and watch out for birds. Maybe you’ll see some flying Kererū
- Kleo always enjoyed seeing new ways of getting around. Maybe you’ve got an interesting way to get around near you?
- Go to the museum and learn something new.
- Cohen and Kleo quite enjoy sitting down with a good book, maybe one of ours.
Share your adventures
Cohen and Kleo would love to see all the adventures you get up to.
Take a photo of your Kererū friend while you’re out on those adventures.
Get a parent or adult or yourself if you’re old enough (no judgement we’re young at heart too) and post it with #KererūAdventures
You could also email photos and stories to Kleo, she’d love to read them too. Email her at Kleo@cohenandkleo.co.nz
