Life as a Plush Kererū
As a plush Kererū my life is a bit different than most. And among other plush Kererū or plush friends generally my life is certainly even more different.
If you didn’t already know, I grew up at Wellington Zoo. I don’t think I was born there, but if I’m honest, it was just a stepping stone to finding my forever home. (Little plug; You can learn more about that in my book – Kleo the Kererū meets Cohen the Kiwi)
Then in 2022 my now good friend Cohen the Kiwi found me and took me off on an adventure that changed my entire life. Who’d have thought little ole me would get to fly off around the world. It’s been a busy few years and I have loved every minute of it, plus I even get to be the star of a book. I’m obviously a star but it’s nice that people get to see it.
Oh gosh, I’m being a bit self-centered aren’t I. Well what do you expect from a beautiful Kererū such as myself. (Cohen is now looking at me disapprovingly as he type this on my behalf)
I’ll lay off the preening a little for his sake.
Anyway, I’m getting off topic though I’m not sure what the topic was meant to be.
I’ve only written one of these before (Kleo’s trip to Türkiye) and that was an adventure to share about.
This is me.

Cohen has written a bunch of posts about his personal experience and I think it’s high time I do the same. And yet I’m not really sure what to write about. So maybe this post is simply going to be a bit of a train of thought and introduction to me. Then maybe I’ll find a groove and have some more collected thoughts to share another time.
I guess a little about me.
I’m a Kererū – that’s a New Zealand Wood Pigeon, if you didn’t know. I love flying and being in the forest but having lived the highlife of houses and hotels I’m pretty happy with enjoying the outdoors when I can rather than all the time.
I love all sorts of fruits and seeds, and I’ve certainly got used to this whole restaurant thing. You ask for food and they just bring it to you. It’s amazing! Wish I could go there every day but no we have to eat at home sometimes. (Cohen is saying something about having to pay; one of those boring human things)
What else… oh I love meeting people, especially fans, so if you see me out and about do say hi; I might not say much but that’s more on being a plush Kererū. Not because I’m shy or anything.
Travelling around the world gave plenty of opportunities to meet some incredible people.
People’s reactions have always been interesting. Cohen has this habit of not introducing me until someone points me out. Said it was entertaining to see how long it took someone to ask about me. I think he should introduce me when he’s saying hi; some might consider it rude that introductions weren’t complete.
Anyway, once they do get to know me they’re always really excited, and why wouldn’t they be. I’m amazing! (Whoops, there’s that disapproving look from my typist again)
Being a plush Kererū on an adventure through life around the world with my best friend Cohen is really cool. And I get to share about it and maybe give some advice. So my first piece of advice.
Being a plush Kererū on a worldwide adventure through life with my best friend Cohen is really cool. Plus there this great space where I get to share with you. Maybe even offer a little advice.
So here’s my first tip:
You never know what life might bring, so try to look on the bright side, enjoy the sun, and eat some berries.
Leave a comment about what you want to hear from me next.
Love you all

*Fine, you can have a credit.
Thanks to Cohen for typing.
