Let’s Hear It – Audiobook has Landed
Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
or perhaps more aptly – Good Morning Listeners. It’s time for the news.
That’s right, we’re here for another big announcement and another launch. If you’ve been following the journey of the book then we’re happy to have you here. If you’re only just joining then let’s catch you up before the announcement.
- February 2022 – Cohen and Kleo jet off for Türkiye and start 9 months of travel in Europe.
- September 2022 – Cohen writes the draft of Kleo the Kererū meets Cohen the Kiwi
- Lots of back and forth on Editing, Artwork, and Formatting
- October 2024 – Kleo the Kererū meets Cohen the Kiwi is published
- November 2024 – The Ebook goes live a short while later
- May 2025 – We’ve arrived at this announcement
Kleo the Kererū meets Cohen the Kiwi is now available as an Audiobook
After a few weeks of squishing ourselves under the desk and figuring out microphones, we’ve given voice to the story — and it’s now live on Spotify!
We’ll be adding it to the webshop soon, with some bonus content included in the downloadable version.

So why have we created an Audiobook?
If Cohen’s honest he’d say its in order to give him some external motivation to get writing and put some of our stories on paper.
If we’re a bit more business minded, we’d say that we made it as a way to get the story and the world of Kleo the Kererū out to more people and maybe tempt a few books purchases.
Truly though it’s a bit of both of those and more. (Cohen speaking for himself now)
This whole project has been an incredible learning curve. From figuring out what the editing and development process looks like, to marketing – Which I’m doing a poor job – and on to figuring out the next steps.
Making an audiobook felt like a natural next step — and a fitting one for a children’s book. It’s allowed me to breathe life into the words I’ve written and allow listners and readers alike to understand the story as I wrote it. To hear the pacing, to understand the emotions in a way that words might not be able to fully convey.
And it’s really just another exciting thing to start learning about. Hopefully the next ones will improve and I’ll come back to refine this story and upload a new version.
(Back to joint thoughts) We’re excited to have you along for the audiobook and to hear your thoughts. We’d love for you to share with your family, friends, neighbours, first cousin twice removed, the old lady who lived down the road while you grew up, or the kids that kick a ball around at the local park. Anyone who you think might enjoy taking a few minutes to enjoy a fun little story we’d love to have them stop by.
(Kleo has a few words) It’s an interesting life to lead being a toy bird travelling the world. All these adventures have been magical and it’s fun to think that some people out there might listen and imagine a little version of me flying around.
I can’t contribute much to the audiobook – owing to the being a bird – but I do like to hang out with Cohen and watch his work.
Cohen hasn’t put it here yet but I am insisting. The next Audiobooks are meant as teasers to the future books about my adventures but it “apparently” takes time to get print to page and I, a little selfishly, would like my stories to be told. So an Audiobook will have to do, you can be sure I’ll be working on my poses for the artwork though.
(To close it off together) Thanks for coming along with us this far. Keep your eyes on the website for updates, as always we’ll keep sharing to Instagram, and slowly get better at our other channels. We’ve also got our Quarterly Newsletter – The Kererū Almanac if you want a regular update in your inbox – Sign up below.
Otherwise thanks for reading the update. We’ll be back again soon.
